I agree with joker. Everyone says in defense of Sony "Just wait! Just Wait!" We did, we waited over a year for it to be released and now we have to wait another year or two before they can make games that really make use of it? PS3 owners can wait and wait and wait if they want, but I doubt much will change.

My only real concern of the Xbox 360 is two fold 1) Hard Drive is not large enough and 2) Not sure what we are going to do when games exceed the ~5gb disk space requirement. Games are getting larger and larger and now even with DVD's you still need more than one with the games coming out today... I suppose the 360 might get away with it since it only has to support one setting and one set of textures, but still...

However, if sony were to release a native keyboard and mouse support for their FPS Games, I would instantly buy one. But, doubtful that either will support keyboard + mouse in games.

Even at that resolution I still have yet to see a 360 game with AA. Doesn't the PS3 use AA in some of their titles?

The 360 has the 10 MB EDRAM on board but in order to fit in a 1080p image with AA on there the devs would have to use tiling which so far they haven't though I'm sure they may eventually. As for which games use AA thats hard to say, I haven't seen a solid list that says which do and which don't. Most should have 2xAA and there's some I hear like CoD2 that will do 4xAA if you downscale the image to 480p.

1. Rumors have it that MS is going to release a bigger HD for people to buy. Now that they're offering HD tv shows on xbox live its only inevitable.
2. The 360 uses DVD-9 disks which hold ~8.5 GB of data so I wouldn't worry about disk space running out. If it does you can always span it over multiple disks.
3. Sony has no need to release a kb/mouse because they will let developers implement it in games if they want. So far no games use it but I heard UT2007 might. BTW there's a kb/mouse adapter available for the 360 (I have it on order) from XCM.

As for upscaleing or downscaling I can only say this. My display is 768p and when I use component setup for 720p it looks great. If I set a PC resolution to 1280 X 720 and stretch it, it looks terrible. So, somehow, it scales beautiful on my display with no distortion despite the fact that it doesn't do 1:1 pixel mapping with my current setup, proof that the 360 will look absolutely stunning on a 1080p display, especially if it upscales like Joker claims (I believe it does). Anyway... I am realling digging Gears of War. Bringing it over to my dads place tonight to play on his 42" plasma... I am in for a real treat :D

I didn't know the X360 HD-DVD attachment works on the PC. :( And as a former Sony fan, I have to admit that if it weren't for Resistance and Ratchet and Clank 5 (both made by my favorite console game developers, Insomniac), I'd get an Xbox 360.

I love my Xbox 360 to bits..

There are 2 things i dont like about it, well with GoW anyway, no AA and i have it set at 1080i and the texture crawling is REALLY bad, i dont know if anyway else has noticed it but the AF seems to be like at 2x for some reason!

5150Joker, you have single handedly made my decision (which formerly was well decided) much harder. Thanks.....I think.

That's what bothered me about GOW when I looked at the screenshots on GS.

QFT. The same things I encountered when playing it. After seeing and playing the game first-hand, it's graphics were WAY over hyped.

It's the Wii that is hard to find. No one is buying the PS3 because no one can sell them on eBay. Serves them right :D

I might think of getting one again once the kinks are worked out and Sony has more games and a better online network.

rofl, i bet u don't even have a ps3

to the op yes, i dont think at this time u can't go wrong with a 360 or ps3..and i think both the 20gig an 60gig come with wireless controllers

I knew the PS3 honeymoon was over when Target offered that they had "6" PS3's to everyone standing in line(~ 50/60 people..me included) disappointed that they missed a chance at one of the 21 wii's they just got in stock a week before Christmas....there were no takers.

If i bought a console right now, it would be the nintendo Wii. Cheap and sounds funky with the whole "playing games by swinging the remote controller".

The ps3 came out with no 'must have' games, and until the next installment of GT or FF, the ps3 shouldn't be purchased. To me, the console won't exist until there's a full GT game for it, and the price of the console is under $200. I predict both of those requirements will be met about a year or less before the ps4 comes out, so I have lots of time :D

Indeed. The best of the best baby!

Indeed, i do find myself wanting in the fact that with PC games i can tweak things here and there and i have no freedom to do that with the console.

But then again theres an upside that i dont actual have to get things desirable as they are pretty damn good already.

Josh, dont get me wrong, GoW is definitly astounding in terms of graphics, its just niggling parts of it are annoying. But as you said definitly not worth ALL the hype.

One other thing, they seems to still have a problem with getting shadows to look right, instead of very pixelated still...

Foot in mouth: Text

I had two of them at one point and sold one of them on Craigslist. Oh and my Sony Online name is Joker530.

Heck, the Blue-Ray disc drive in the PS3 is worth the price alone (when you compare pc drives). Spending $800 on just a drive for your PC, or $600 for that drive along with the gaming capabilities. I think its worth it.

Uh, only if you require a BluRay player RIGHT NOW.
And if you just require a next gen DVD player, then there is a little MS Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on for $200 that also works on the PC. Much cheaper than a $600 PS3.
Of course, who really NEEDS a Bluray player right now anyway? Why buy a $600 PS3 instead of an $800 drive when you could not buy either?
Saying the Bluray drive in the PS3 makes it worth $600 is totally false. A next gen DVD player will NEVER be actually WORTH $600 or $800. Sure, they may cost that much, but it's not the same.

Well if that's the case, then you can also say there is no need for gaming as well. I mean come'on, who really 'needs' gaming? It's about what the consumer wants. I WANT Blue-Ray, not need. You DON'T WANT it, so you have no care for it. Simply up to the individual, because everyone's tastes are different.

Agreed, it is ALOT of cash to throw out for a disc drive that will be just a couple of hundred within 2 years. Current market though, the price paying for a drive for the PC, or getting PS3? PS3 wins hands down if you want Blue-Ray.

I have nothing against 360. I just personally don't like it. Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't the highest resolution supported 720P? And really, after you think about it, XBOX360 and HD-DVD comes out to $600. Same as a PS3. Might as well buy PS3 IMO.

The Bluray drive does not make the PS3 worthwhile as a games console.
Sure, it makes it worthwhile as a stand-alone Bluray player, but not as a games console.
As a games console it is overpriced. If you want *just* a games console, it's overpriced. The Bluray player doesn't ever change that.

Get back to us when you're changing 6 discs on some epic game on the 360 whether blu-ray is worth it or not. Thats not even bringing up its built-in ability to play videos in 1900x1080 resolution versus 640x480 for DVD.

9GB = plenty of space for anything other than multiple languages and loads of prerendered FMVs. Enjoy that. ;)

Also, HD-DVD = 1080p.
