i thought boston was full of smart people....

they may be, but when it comes to renting aprtments, the only smart ones are the realtors and landlords. 1400/month for a 350 sq ft. apartment? I don't care if it is next to the common....it does not matter if i can't even fit my dam bed through the door! In the end however, someone will rent it.

Geesh, i wonder how much landlords and property companies in Boston make.....

Ummm ok. I guess people are stupid because they pay a lot of money to live in a place that is in a lot of demand. Those idiots!

i'm moving to Boston next week too, to go to grad school. I'm renting an efficiency that's pretty small, but the prices are marginally better than NYC where I lived before.

I'm going to build a 40 mile tall letter "R" that forever shades the city until those people learn to speak.

Heck, anyone can learn to pronounce it AH. 😉

I lived in Boston for 3 years (Cambridge, Arlington, Quincy), and I sure as hell don't remember rent being that bad. Granted, this was 96-99...

My daughter had to settle on a one room basement apartment (if you could call it that) for $800/month.

She got a good deal. Just make sure it doesn't leak sewage or has a rat problem like the one I stayed in when I was in Boston.
