I think WinXP "highjacked" by CD burning ability???

I haven't used Nero in a while to burn even data to a cd, but I recently tried and kept burning an "image" rather than the data files. What gives? I add the files in the appropriate menu for Nero and it gives me a message the burn was successful.

I also get a menu through WinXP Pro which has "burn cd" in the choices. I don't recall getting this type of menu with Nero up until now. Was this funtion added recently with the updates for WinXP Pro?

Is there some setting I need to turn off in WinXP to correct this issue?

I just want to burn my data disks using Nero without any help from WinXP.

Thanks for any help.

You might need to change the settings for XP's built-in CD Burning. To do so, go to My Computer, right click on your burner, select properties from the menu, and then click on the Recording tab to see what boxes are checkmarked, if any.
