I was finishing my motorcycle safety course today and started thinking how good it would be for people to have to go through additional training before being allowed to get their drivers license.
It's already required to go through the drivers education classes and take a written and hands on skills test before being allowed to get behind the wheel but I think that with the way people drive it's not enough. Perhaps we need drivers to have additional training in the beginning of their driving careers or occasional driving skill checkups to make sure they still remember what they are supposed to be doing out there.
* As big of an inconvenience as it would be maybe we need to take the written test more often or maybe we need to take the behind the wheel skills test more often.
* I think everyone should learn how to drive a manual transmission so they can understand how to do more than 1 thing at a time behind the wheel (thinking, steering, changing gears)
* Take the motorcycle safety course to be more aware of what other drivers go through on the road
Maybe it's just me but in the Chicago area there are a lot of piss poor drivers that think that when 2 lanes merge into 1 lane that everyone else goes first... after them. People that pull up 2 feet behind a motorcyclist at a stop light. Double / Triple lane changes without any signals or sometimes even looking.
