I think we could use a linux forum

If anyone else agrees, please reply with a w00t or any other form of agreement. I think that the 'linux' within the AT community has grown to a point where we need this. Thanks.
 
for sure. get a linux forum up. i think too many of the posts in the operating system forum are related to linux because there is obviously a need for a lot of help there. a dedicated forum would improve modularity. besides, there are heaps of forums already one more won't make a difference 🙂
 
Good luck, I also want a *nux forum. However last time I asked the moderators said 'No' and promptly locked it.... and here I thought this forum was for discussing issues such as this :-(
 
Personally I don't see the point to it. Zuni is trying to constrain the number of forums as much as possible as it is, you would need an extreme amount of support to have a chance at acceptance.
The Highly Technical forum was barely accepted and that had seemingly everyone asking for it. That's been the only forum added in almost a year in a half or so.

In addition, there is already an Operating Systems forum, so I don't see the need to add a Linux/Unix specific forum. I fone was to be added it's almost a guarantee many will complain there isnt a Windows specific forum as there are likely more Windows users here. Then we will have people insisting on a BeOS forum etc.
 
I think a NIX forum would be of high value...

There is a high level of NIX content in the OS forum now ..... but there is lots of NOISE in there with all the Microsoft people talking about how to change their blue screens to red, and how to best obtain an illegal copy of the latest Microsoft software.

Besides... if you separated out the Nix from the Winders people I would not be so tempted to go into their threads and make fun of them.


Right now.. sharkys and anands forums are almost identical, having a seperate nix forum would set anand apart.
 
I agree with Rand. We don't need any more forums. The OS forum isn't even that busy compared to some others.
