So, I got a file organizing problem using folder as category. MS is fvcked up at the beginning....

I think what we need is meta data and virutal folder.

I am cleaning up my PC b4 reformat.

Let me give u an simple exmaple
recipe : Thai fish soup, so do I put it in the category under Fish, Soup, or Thai food ?

I heard MS next OS (longhorn) use WinFS and SQL to address problem, but won't come out until 2005.

And Lotus seems to have the virutal folder concept, but I am unfamilar with.

Can any one advise on the file organizing issue ?

thanks

> make one file, put it in whatever the hell folder you like then use a database to track it... where's the problem?

talk is cheap. Do u have a WORKING example with minimal overhead and easily integrated with MS OS ?

I'm not that anal about classification so I have no need to actually implement this and have even less of a need to integrate it in the OS. If you'd just use the search function in the OS you'd probably save more time then trying to jump through hoops trying to create a sophisticated program that's integrated into the OS
