lol chiwawa, I have the same thing. I just bought a $30 56x cd-rom so I can burn on the fly to my burner. When it fires up its like a jet turbine man.

I remember when I upgraded from an 8x to a 50x a few years ago. It started spinning up and I thought it was going to launch.

I heard a horror story about one of those first generation slot loading 100x drives. A guy put in a cd and it spun up VERY loudly, so he looked straight at the drive which was at about eye level. Pow! The CD flew out of the drive and nailed him in the forehead.

lol, that reminds me of my old Creative labs 48x CD. Whenever it would spin up, my roommate would scream "Prepare for takeoff" The thing was loud, and I do mean violently loud. It eventually shook itself to death. When I was switching it from one case to another, I heard a lot of rattling inside of it. When I shook it around, screws and bits and pieces started flying out of the CD loader door. I went ahead and bought a cheapie 52x that is much quieter.

Exactly! Those babies are LOUD! I returned mine the next day, way too loud for me.
