I think the Veyron might have met its match

Text

New CCXR that runs on E85 bio-fuel, horsepower up to 1018 (from 806 in the CCX which I think topped out at 248). Weight is still only 2601lbs and it looks like the spoiler might be mandatory on the new car.

Basically by just optimizing it for E85 they've gained another 200horsepower all while burning cleaner.

Top Gear really needs to have a straight line top speed showdown.

They also have a race car now, the CCGT

And Pagani has a new version, the Zonda R

wow E85, thats pretty awesome. i dunno if we can count in the Zonda R though, that appears to be a Le Mans car...

e85 has a super high octane rating, so they can up the compression a lot (kinda like leaded gas). so, even though there is less energy in a volume of it, they can squeeze more energy out of it. awesome 😎

I don't think it is, its just a car that really rich people can use at the track (and only the track).

The Zonda R is born with full liberty. The target: the ultimate performance at the racetrack without any implications of rules, except for safety, where no compromise is allowed.

The Ultima GTR is quicker then the Veyron, so I'm curious to see what numbers the new Koenigsegg can pull

we're going to have to leave luxuries out and leave it to performance, otherwise the veyron would still win..... (oh yeah, and leave price out 😀 )

You've got me a bit confused by your statement. There is less energy per volume but they can squeeze more energy out of it? Isnt it the case that they are able to compress more and therefore have a larger amount of oxygen in the cylinder and can put in more fuel resulting in more power?

We're only talking top speed (which is pretty much the only thing a Veyron gets compared for as it really is not that much of a comfort/luxury car). I think the Veyron has even been bested in acceleration, and it won't compare at all in handling to any other supercar.

As I recall, the Koeniggseeggooennieggerseg at 250mph is completely different from the Veyron at that speed. They're just different cars, though with similar performance figures. I'll take one of each, please.

Also, isn't Bugatti building an even more powerful Veyron?

i dont think so

the koenigsegg is a monster on the limit, Jeremy Clarkson drove a kegg a few times on top gear and when going that fast it was well scary. the veyron is surreal, it can sit at 250 and its just odd...quiet, smooth, completely opposite.

i dont really think the veyron was meant to be the fastest in the world, i think its just meant to be an engineering showcase, and as a package cars like the kegg dont come close. they may match the speed but they wont match the engineering.

OMG Zonda R - *wets pants*

thats bound to sound insane too. the Zonda F has the best exhaust note bar none.

I'd like to know who will be supplying the tires if the Koenigsegg can reach a higher speed than the Veyron. The Veyron's top speed was already limited by the Michelin tires...
