I think the Passat would look nice like this

I screenshotted the vehicle at tirerack.com with some 20" wheels, and then 'shopped it to lower it a bit plus remove the stupid chrome trim. Chrome trim is part of the Passat SEL Premium package. Yup, more proof that "add chrome = call premium and add more money." :whiste:

If I ever purchased one I would get the Passat TDI SE with manual and get some aftermarket wheels like this, plus get it chipped/tuned or whatever it's called. I've heard it is trivial to add 20-30bhp and boost torque over 300lb/ft. with minimal impact to MPG. Lowering looks nice, but I would want it to ride comfy too. It would be as a fuel miser commuter and long distance roadtripper.

Here's my 'shop work.

Just idle thoughts. I just think that the side profile looks nice after editing.

It'd look better in white with the storm trooper treatment. Not a big fan of murdered out cars.

Nice, I'm digging the blacked out look. I would def get the TDI and chip it, amazing mileage, mass torque, a true highway beast :p

Most buyers still associate chrome with "premium".

Monochrome or body color trim looks "clean" but I do agree it can be a bit plain sometimes. The chrome on the Passat pictured is fairly tasteful IMHO.

A little plasti dip on the chrome and some lowering springs and your good to go.

I am usually against lowering springs but some cars like my G35X actually handled better and still had a great ride.

I've only sat in a new Passat, so take this w/ a grain of salt, but to me, the big thing holding them back from commanding their premium price is the lack of A/C vents to the rear passengers. Even the Jetta & Hyundai Sonata has this. Obviously it has to drive nice, but the creature comforts are what set a car on top.

Regarding chrome, rear a/c vents, etc... VW cheapens many of their vehicles in an attempt to not compete with audi products.

Why do I care about the passengers exactly? I'm the one driving :p Don't like the back; GET OUT.

As a family sedan, my family rides in the back. Specifically my 2.5 year old son and newborn son would appreciate being cooled. If you're the only one driving, why not get a 2 door instead of a 4 door? :p

If you survived without rear AC vents as a youth, so can they.

Besides, there are always rear AC vents; they're under the front seats.

^ Ha, true, but I want to spoil them rotten like every blue blooded American does! It's the American dream you know, spoil your kids so they don't learn any valuable lessons growing up and land welfare as an adult while living in your basement, thus not working a day in their lives. Way to stick it to the man!

/Rant Off

I still really like the car, especially the TDI version.

Nice! Any details? Looks like SEL trim (chrome). Is it a TDI? Looks lowered.

Not my car, but I believe its a TDI. It's definitely lowered quite a bit though. There are lots of modified Passats if you know where to look
