With the Repubs totally focused and our nation never having free and fair elections ever again, I wonder what it would take to mitigate their efforts in this regard. It really is a precursor for the GOP's efforts to claim outright and indefinite control of the gov't as it's their only way to win federal elections going into the future.
If you need a re-education camp roommate (assuming they let us pick), hit me up.

While there are quite a few places, especially in local government, where one side of the other wins with a comfortable margin, there is almost no where of any relevance that can be considered even close to single party. Even in liberal strongholds like Los Angeles the Democrats only win elections by 10-20 percent. That still means 30-40% of the population in what might be the most liberal place in the US is conservatives.

Besides all that fascist overlords don't let people leave without a fight, especially when they would be taking the majority of the population and the money with them. No, it will be war, and the GOP will destroy us all before losing.

There is no scenario that the US breaks up without it becoming a major war, and either the liberals lose that war or we all die.
You are completely wrong. In national elections in Los Angeles, Biden got 71% and Trump 26.. That's over a 40% win, not 10-20. We are talking about splitting up federally so we don't have to be under the national rule of authoritarian shitheads, not locally. Local government issues do not mean secession.

The country is coming apart at the seams but the cracks are showing in more than one place. It isn’t just Democrats, it seems, that are crippled by inner division. It seems there may be a debate on the right as to just how much crazy they can allow and retain popular support.

The greater the levels of self hate, the source of hatred projected, the greater the unconscious action that leads to self destruction.

It amazes me that the Repub leadership think that they can actually control the amount of chaos and dissention they soak their followers with, considering that Trump is more in control of their base than the party leaders are.

What's even more of concern is how their leadership have been able to separate themselves from the "establishment" that is, as they like to remind their followers, "out to take over the nation and create a socialist state" when their leadership is a firmly integrated element of "the establishment" themselves.

United we stand, divided we fall. There's so much wrong with the U.S. divorcing, but I can't say it's not in the cards. It will be very very messy, and other world powers are definitely planning for it.

It will be very easy to separate the two sides! Dems go to California/Oregon/Washington or the Northeast states: NY, Mass.,Vermont, Connecticut, Maryland, or center states: Illinois/Michigan. All the rests of the people have traditional Americans values.

What are traditional American values? Like free practice of religion? Liberty for all?

I think you missed a few states there. What do you mean by traditional American values? Being so shitty the right wing base there enjoy waving the racist and treasonous confederate flag?

Sounds about right.

Do tell me more about these traditional American values! Silly me, I was raised to believe they were things like freedom, justice, liberty for all, things like that.
I guess you were probably raised to believe they were "keeping women and [undesirables] in their place!", "Praise Jesus and pass the ammo" kinda stuff.

Things were going well with Bill Clinton in the office. Ignore the silliness of a consensual sexual act between two consenting adults and Al Gore's dopey response. And the impeachment

No one and I mean, no one, has a lock on morality or righteousness. Even the Bible said this. (Romans 3:23)

When Bill Clinton was in office, the economy was humming. Those who wanted a job (maybe not the one they aspired to), could find one. It was eight years of relative peace with no major war.

People forget that close to the tail end of Clinton's presidency, the Crack Epidemic waned. Crime dropped all across the U.S. Which is why supporters of then-NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani claimed that Rudy alone made the city safe.

Bullcrap. It was David Dinkins' Safe City and Safe Streets program which flooded high crime areas with cops that reduced the reportable crime numbers. It's all in the numbers and how various news gathers interpret them. Crime began to drop in NYC in the final year of Dinkins' mayoralty.

Clinton certainly wasn't perfect. But no one is. The man loved getting mucho booty. Which is why he remained so popular in many parts of South America. Many men wanted to be like him.

In France and other countries, there was surprise Clinton was even accused of sullying the Oval Office. Since affairs by various heads of state in Europe seemed to be almost a tradition.

Yep I agree.. Balkanization is the future but hopefully we can do it without a second civil war or uncivil war.
I don't think it's going to happen. The states are too dependent on the federal government, doesn't matter what the discontents think or say, when the rubber hits the road the splits won't happen.

No, those people misuse logic. I'm not saying they can be retrieved. What I'm saying is those nuts don't have the capacity to turn their states into sovereign nations and will fail if they try to do so.
To be clear, I don't want any of this to happen, but I'm fairly certain it is the red states that would secede and it wouldn't go well for them.
Yes, the irony of this is that it's the blue states are much more capable of secession. I don't think the blue states would try unless the sentiment prevails that it must happen. I don't have a crystal ball but I don't think it's going to happen.

Compare crime rates of states, countries, cities, etc., with the end of leaded gasoline. Neither David Dinkins nor Giuliani did anything compared to not BURNING LEAD and spewing it everywhere for 50 years.

You had to live in NYC during the Crack Epidemic. It was a horrible time. Rudy simply targeted Blacks as did Bloomberg.

Balkanization is the future, most likely.

Wonder if OK is the first domino? Maybe nothing major will come of it, but at a minimum it encourages openly defying the federal government.

Not sustainable. Maybe Bannon was right "we are winning this thing."

Gotta admit, there is something uniquely American about a guy like Donald Trump being the one to bring it all crashing down.
If Democrats weren't authoritarian scumbags, The Orangeman wouldn't be living rent free in people's heads.

This is possibly the most ridiculous thing ever posted on ATPN, Brandon.

Serious question though, if the Dems are such terrible authoritarians, then what does that make the Republicans who say that everyone (else) must comply with any and all govt orders, or die?

Which Democrats are authoritarian? Name the one's on the national level that are, and provide supporting evidence that backs your claims up. I for one do not want any authoritarians in my government. If there are so many dem authoritarians around this should be easy as pie for you, even if your brain isn't highly developed. So "lets go brandon" put up or shut up!

I suppose brandonbull must be stupidly referring to vaccinations, despite... you know, historical realities surrounding vaccinations. He doesn't do too well with history. Or reality.
If he's got other demonstrations of Democrat authoritarianism, I'm eager to hear them. I could use a good laugh.

Crime started dropping 18 years after abortion was legalized. States that legalized earlier than others saw the crime rates drop earlier. Too bad you aren't around to read this.

If the past is any indication we could see an increase in crime of about 1% per year.

Crime started dropping after 18 years everywhere they stopped burning lead in gasoline. County, city, state, country. Across the world. Had nothing to do with Roe v. Wade in 1973.
