I have been thinking about getting this sound card, I am not exactly an audiophile so the sound quality isn't really that big of a deal to me. Does anyone know if the x-gamer has any horrible compatability issues with the amd athlon 1.33ghz?

On some motherboards, you'll have problems, I think the latest 4 in 1 drivers fixed most of them. If it's not much extra, just get a Acoustic Edge or a Santa Cruz, both are excellent and a step ahead in tech from the SB line

Your computer will not be able to support the Hibernate Mode if you install that sound card. It will create an error file saying that the SB Live's driver is preventing it from entering the Hibernate Mode, and it sucks.

You can boot up your PC in just a few seconds (10-15) if you hibernate it and then turn it on...

Ok but how is the sound on the x-gamer, does it sound good? can I play music and watch movies? the one that is in my system right now is not exactly the greatest sound card, it is three years old, so anything would be a step up. The mobo that I am getting is the k7 master or the asus a7a266, not sure which one yet.

By going after a Live!, you are throwing your computer's fate to the winds. Risky. Go for the Santa Cruz, it works great for me (98/2000/XP). As for sound quality, that card should work great (provided it works).
