I think the concept that almost the whole freakin world shuts down on sundays is pure crap. We are an economy that strives on business and money changing hands etc etc, so why would we let this crap go on? I personally hate waiting when an animal is sick, or when I am expecting a package or a crapload of other things I can't think of at the moment. With the country operating 7 days a week, more people can be employed, solving that problem or at least soothing it quite a bit...

What do you think?

The problem is, NO ONE WANTS TO WORK WEEKENDS. The point of such is to get a break. Tell me, how would you like working 7 days a week, 365 days a year, no days off? When it inconveniences you, I'm sure you won't be quite so gung-ho for it.

I think that people can't work 7 days a week, and not burn out. If every gets burnt out, and nobody really wants to work (or work efficiently), then the economy becomes worse than it currently is.

I agree with raging. Who the hell wants to work all of the time? Not everyone wants to work on a Sunday, especially religious types.

I wouldn't mind workign weekends if I got most of those days as a vacation. That way I can take a day off WHEN I feel like it, not when the society decides I SHOULD take a day off. In other words, I agree with OP.

I don't think everybody would work 7-days a week. It'd be more along the lines of working 5-days a week, just a different 5 than m-f.

if services need to be open, I'd have to be working on weekends too... then where would any free time come from ? I like the option of working retail or corporate so I can decide to work weekends or not.

What do you think?

There would be more work hours to fill, but it wouldn't cause any increase in sales... I wanted to go to Lowe's last night after they closed, so what am I going to do? Go today.

I like not having to work on weekends...it forces people to relax and see that the world isn't about productivity and $$

I think that weekends are a good idea. As a person wo works on holidays and weekends, I'll be the first to say that it's healthier for the body in general to get a few days of rest a week. One the very rare occasion that I get 2 days off in a row, I find I'm better rested and feel better than I do when I just get one day off.

I've also found that having time to spend with family is nice. Being for the most part denied that by my work, I get frustrated easily and am very jealous of those who can go to a BBQ on the 4th or have Thanksgiving dinner with the family. Family time is precious. Time to relax is precious.

The person who had my job before I did burned out big time. I've worked the job about as long as she did and i'm ready to climb the walls and tear my hair out.

Americans work hard enough as is.... We need more vacation, and shorter work days. We'd be more productive, better rested, and generally happier people.

My current job offers up 19 days vacation... Realize this is diddly squat?... And whats worse is, this is better than alot of people. That includes sick leave... I've been at this place for 10 months and I have a grand total of 5 days of vacation stored. This is ridiculous... people need time off.

Take away my weekends too, and I might lose it.... ever seen "falling down"?

I also like not working on weekends. What's the matter? Didn't get your NewEgg order placed in time to get your stuff delivered by Friday?

Obviously you didn't read/understand what I said. People would still work the same amount, but instead of having weekends off, they could have other days off too, and more people would be hired, effectively lowering the unemployment rate, helping people like me who are stuck in crappy jobs.

I work in a job like this. Read my post. It's not healthy physically or mentally.
