First, scan for viruses.

Then change your email address and notify everyone you send email to that it has changed.

Set up an email account for spam, like when you need to give an email address for something. That will keep your proper account from getting polluted.

I've got NAV running.
It's an email address i basically never use and can just simply delete if necessary.
I have a hotmail address that i use to for spam.

That's no virus. It's so easy to send a fake(with a wrong FROM) email, it's not even funny.

Well, to do it CORRECTLY, you have to find an open relay to send from, which can be found easier than finding white on rice, stink on sh|t, etc.

I agree with what others are saying. First, clearly scan for viruses in case you've got a ah heck trying to spread itself. If this is a web-only account, like Yahoo or Hotmail, then it's not the problem.

But I'm leaning toward the spoofed emails theory. I once received over 200 returned emails overnight in my hotmail account. The next day, I received another 150 or so. I decided to add a custom filter for it since the problem didn't seem like it was going away. Everything went back to normal and I was receiving my normal batch of 20 spam emails.

SPammers use sequential combinations of letters/numbers to send from... Especially with hotmail addys. Happened to me twice with my hotmail account.

Hotmail said "must be a typo by the real sender". Never even looked at the bounce messages. :|
