I think someone is trying to kill me & my truck

Well, this is starting to suck. Last week, I found out that my valve cover had mysteriously loosened itself to the point that I was blowing oil all over the place. Well, I fixed that today, after being down for a week. I went for a test drive, and noticed an awful vibration.

On my way to the store, my rear driveshaft fell off of my transfer case. Just like that. I got a ride home, and then came back in a different car with tools, and whipped together a really short-term fix, but en route I saw that *all* of my driveshaft bolts were loose ... at the axles, and at the transfer case. All of them. I have never even looked at those bolts. And now *all* of them are loose, at the exact same time as my valve cover dies and my rear d.shaft falls off.

I seriously think somebody is trying to destroy me and my truck ... off to the hardware store to get some bolts, and then spending monday going over my whole truck tightening everything I see.

btw, I found a 17" monitor in a dumpster -- ganked it, and it works beautifully!

What kind of a truck? And try setting up a video camera watching your truck. (or sit in the dark with a shotgun in wait ;) )

It's a 1982 toyota 4x4 ... although it's modified: 3" body lift, 33x12.50 tires, home-made intake, 2.5" exhaust ... soon to have a rear locker [I hope].

It's not anything special; it doesn't draw attention, it's just a dirty truck. And somebody is out to make it fall apart.

[sigh]

not a bad idea, although I'm inclined to think that somebody did this to my truck sometime [at a parking lot, at night, sometime] and worked the whole thing over at one sitting. Everything seemed to happen on the same day, but I haven't driven it in a week due to the blown valve cover gasket.

I hope they stay away from my truck; I can't afford for a whole lot more to go wrong.

Talk to a mechanic and ask him/her if it's possible that all of this could happen at once. If they say it was probably sabatoge, then file a police report. They probably won't catch the guy, but for all you know, there may be a person doing this to vehicles all around town and your case might be important somehow.

<< Let me guess....a General Motors product? >>

Try reading the posts, its a Toyota (suprisingly). And of course its not a GM, Ford took over the Found On Road Dead job many years ago. Poor GM, nothing to do but build good vehicles.

besides its probably not even mechanical faliure...

It sounds more like a minor vibration that is shaking things loose as opposed to a huge right wing conspiracy :)

Lift kits, and larger tires will contribute to vibration problems, even though you may not even be able to feel it, it could still be loosening up bolts that are not torqued down to specs, or that have loosened up a bit due to age and minor vibration.

It even sounds like your driveshaft may have lost some of it's balancing weights, and is vibrating the whole drivetrain.

No, I'm pretty sure it's a HUGE Right Wing conspiracy. You never know what kind of schemes us Republican's will cook up to make a buck. :)

I like the Shotgun Idea. I'd loan you my Benelli M1, but you never know when I'll need it :)

go out and get one of those motion sensor light to cover your car at night. Somebody gets close to it and it lights up the driveway. People doing nasty things hate light.
