I think someone accessed my files on usb

Today I was in lab (for a graduate course) and me and my lab partner went to talk to our professor for a little while to ask a question about a previous lab. There were several people still left in the lab so we left the computer on, and did not think twice about it. When I got back I saw someone, who I do not particularly trust, at our computer. At first I thought he was just using our lab station to finish the lab since most of the equipment in the lab is broken and we often have to finish a lab at another station. I saw him leaving with a print out of the latest homework that I know for a fact he was having difficulty with. I then thought back to how I don't really trust this person and think he may have copied files (homework, lab reports, info about my internship that really shouldn't be shared) from my USB stick. I checked the last access time to many files on the thumb drive and sure enough many which I have not accessed for several days had been accessed today. To make sure it wasn't showing I accessed a file by just right clicking and clicking properties I checked files that were not as likely to be copied and of course it displayed they had not been accessed today.

tl;dr - I think someone may have stolen files off of my usb stick. I checked access time and it shows some files were accessed today (even though I haven't accessed them recently).

don't leave your crap unattended

LOL...info that should not be shared, yet you leave it on a USB stick unattended with other files such as homework.

The "info that should not be shared" isn't that big of a deal.

Yes, I was talking to our professor who teaches the lab that was currently in session and ongoing. I don't unplug my USB stick every time I wish to talk to him.

So do you not save your homework?

id let the prof know in case he copies your homework word for word.

I'm a grader and a lab TA. I really don't have time to catch cheating. This is the last thing on mind. It usually takes me a few problems before I realize the guy is copying the solution manual. Usually I'm in such a rush. Honestly, spending 5 hrs to grade a stack of 80 homework assignments is NOT my priority of the week when I have to write my thesis and spend hours doing my own lab reports.

It's when I hand my papers off to my GF who spends about 10x the amount of time grading each problem as I do, that she'll point out people with the same mistakes and people who get the same score. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure most graders don't catch this or give a rat's ass unless they scrutinize.
