What do you think

I mean.. he actually cares about them and has some understanding of what they are facing... unlike the others who could care less about the smaller areas...

Nah... that's elitist. And everyone knows they'll burn in hell if they don't pull the Republican handle in November.

The interesting fact in all this to me is that the bitter ore offended by the notion they are bitter, or at least some of them are. But then, Mommy warned us not to be bitter when she withheld her love and made us feel, well bitter.

Do not feel what you feel. Reject hope and help. Suffer like you know you deserve to.

This falls into the category of how the truth can be politically problematic. Every baby is the cutest, every local custom is charming.

This is a reason why many problems go unaddressed, because talking about them has a price.

Another example has been any comprehensive discussion on the black community - it's one thing to cite those legitimate areas of discrimination, but quite another to raise issues where many black people may be part of the problem. Or take when a liberal leader wants to talk to liberals about the areas liberals can do better - it's not easy for them to do.

It can be done - but mainly by people who are very trusted by the group, and with a price paid. Even for longtime leaders of the group, it can be a risky activity.

And Obama is not a long-time national leader of small towns, who they want to hear much critical from.

On the other hand, for people who pay attention, the fact that he takes on some tough issues, especially at the height of a tough campaign, shows some principled leadership.

Not the phony 'toughness' of how George Bush tells Osama to 'Bring it on', but a willingness to try to deal with some harder topics.

On the other hand, some may feel he's not doing it all that well, they might question his choice of words if not his being reckless for doing this.

As so often, though, people who complain about politicians not dealing with issues directly need look little further than the mirror when they attack politicians who do so.

it's funny how this has gotten turned around... Obama's the only candidate who's cared about small states from the beginning.

Hitlery and McLame are the ones who are being propped up by liberal north east elitist voters.

Too bad Illinois did not care about my county when I went without power for over a week in southern Illinois. This happened twice in one year. Once in the middle of the summer and once in the middle of the winter. All the food went bad and we were left to drive 10 miles to pay $5.00 a gallon for kerosine to try to heat my house to keep from freezing to death. Obama only cares about people in large cities like Chicago. He can go to hell.

Because the state of Illinois was providing your power and not a local utility company? Or because you think a US Senator is responsible for state-level politics?

Either way, this is about as lacking-in-personal-responsibility desperate straw-grasping as your Obama doesn't believe in the full truth of the Bible comment the other day when he's an Evangelical and you're holding a Book of Mormon...

Did you read Rich Lowry's column in the National Review? Apparently Obama's comments weren't that small town folks are being distracted and misled into neglecting the politics of economic and social importance, but that somehow Obama said that no one would ever hunt, own a gun, or go to church if they didn't live in a small town. Uh huh... the desperation of these Republican hacks is reaching outrageous levels, and they're starting to lie more than Hillary. One thing is for sure, Buckley is spinning in his grave so fast the earth's rotation is speeding up...

If only he had used the word "frustrated" instead of bitter. Funny how sematics works.

One would have thought Obama would have been smarter then to tell people who hate themselves that they hate themselves and then expect them to vote for him. No?

But since it's an election year people are coming out of the woodwork with their concern for small town folk.... except the ones who grow corn. ;)

Well, yah, but PA isn't a small state, it's 6th in population.

big state filled with small towns... if they vote for Hillary, it might confirm Obama's concern about these bitter people who are afraid of people who aren't like them, but I think there's still hope that they can change and vote for Obama in November.

Bitter is what you become when your continually frustrated. Smart people dissemble and lie when their politicians and are seeking to be elected. Honest with people is what you are if you want to help them. How do you suggest we assure the corn farmer makes a living and half the world doesn't starve because they can't afford food?

I must be bitter because I believe in the 2nd Amendment. I'm also bitter because I'm one of those typical white people.
I'll give him one thing though, he is for change. What change we're not really sure because he just says "change" but It seems like from what he is saying his change includes trashing the Constitution and making the United States a socialist country.

Or is it Obama that is bitter because he's a mulato? He can't be a full brotha and have homies, and he can't be a rich white guy and have an easier time winning the election.

Strange though... I believe strongly in the 2nd amendment (along with the rest of the Constitution, of course). I'm a typical white person (whatever that is). I'm also a libertarian. Yet, of the 3 mainstream candidates, I see Obama as the one least likely to trash the Constitution or make the US a socialist country. Are you even familiar with his stance on the issues? Have you seen any of his many debates with Hillary? I sincerely doubt it.

But you do sound quite bitter. Or why else would you stoop to such irrelevant and untruthful personal attacks?

As a person who grew up in a small town (population 1,145), I would say that people are bitter about government intrusion. Small towns people want government out of their lives and out of their way.

Why even bring up his race and your pathetically ridiculous stereotypes? Is the simple answer that you are a racist?
