OK OK, i NEED HELP!?!!??!

While reinstalling XP, i got this error when it started to install Start Menu items...

"copy error, cannot find IEXLPORE.EX_"

It let me browse my drive to find it, and what do ya know, EVERYTHING is still there....

At this point, what can i do to rescue everything?

Dude...jsut use another drive, load windows, mount this other drive, and proceed to get the crap off of there using Getdataback.

Hmmm, may have to buy a new drive...

Drive having the trouble is a 250gb, all i got in the closet is a 10gb and a 6gb :D

I definitely feel your pain on that...i divided my 250gb drive into 2 even partitions, and now the FAT table (i think) on one is screwed. I can see the data using 3rd party programs, but when i click on the screwed partition, windows asks me if i need to format. I'm just waiting to buy a new drive to copy the data over.

If it's any consolation, my 200GB Maxtor main drive started clicking and acting funny yesterday (actually blue-screened and disappeared from the BIOS on the following reboot, then came back after a brief shutdown... tense moment). It did the "clicke of death" a few times and hung once again today, so I ran out and bought a new drive (the warm 250GB WD deal from OM), and am currently copying the entire drive over with PM while posting from the GF's rig. All the important data is backed up, but I didn't want to take any chances or deal with downtime and reinstalling. No errors yet, almost done, wish me luck. The Maxtor drive is a whopping 3 months out of warranty. :(

Good luck with your situation. I recommend running out and buying a new drive and following Goosemaster's advice.

Too bad she didn't have a job as an system administrator... She would have learned pretty quickly that buggy software has a bad habit of self-destructing on occassion.

Of course, it's still the user's fault about 90% of the time, but never underestimate the flakyness of a brand new version 1.0 software product :(

Um, its common knowledge/sense that there's a high risk of crap happening when you do stuff like that. Should have just mounted your D: as a folder in C: if you wanted extra space on C:. I don't see why people like having one big mega partition anyway.

I was getting prepared for turning this into an external drive anyway, no longer had a need to have XP on its own partition.
