back as a freshman in college my prof always tried to convince us that "it is never the fault of the software, only the fault of the user doing something they aren't supposed to that causes problems"

Same thing happened at my job on Friday, was merging partitions and needed to adjust cluster sizes to make it work right.. didn't kill the drive but a windows reinstall was needed, so damn long and ruined my day.

Happened to me once w/PM. Turned out the MFT had been corrupted.

Insert Windows CD and boot into recovery console, logon as Administrator, run fixmbr, fixboot, and chkdsk. Solved the problem for me.

edit: nm, saw your post at the same time as mine. Sorry to hear.

OK OK, i NEED HELP!?!!??!

While reinstalling XP, i got this error when it started to install Start Menu items...

"copy error, cannot find IEXLPORE.EX_"

It let me browse my drive to find it, and what do ya know, EVERYTHING is still there....

At this point, what can i do to rescue everything?

Dude...jsut use another drive, load windows, mount this other drive, and proceed to get the crap off of there using Getdataback.
