NASCAR (and oval racing) is fairly simple. Anyone can do it (meaning skilled drivers from other types of racing). Its boring to watch hour after hour of oval racing where much of the passing is based on aerodynamics and drafting....not something a viewer can actually see.

Road racing is where the skills come in...that is until it becomes poorly managed like f1.

There are several open wheel racers in nascar and I don't think they would all agree with that statement. Some do good and a couple are doing very bad.

Without Jimmy Spencer the race is going to be a lot less interesting.

poorly managed? the reason F1 is boring is because of their aerodynamics... 1967 was the last year where F1 had no spoilers and those people had balls driving around Nurburgring like they're sliding on ice. :Q
