I think I installed it backwards but its on the card and it is doing a good job at keeping it cool. is there any proper way to install it? the installation video says i installed it right but ive seen photos of other people with the same card and its installed the other way ne way ty

card: 7800gt

I installed in "backwards" intentionally to make clearance for aftermarket chipset cooling solutions on my mobo. Prior to that, I had it installed as outlined in the manual. Works no better or worse either way.

The "correct" way blows more air on the ramsinks, other than that it shouldn't make a difference (as long as it fits).

would it also blow more air towards my chipset? keeping it cooler and lowering its fan speeds? cuz its running 50 c right now

I recall reading a post stating that using the Swiftech chipset heatsink without a fan + the VF-700 in the "correct" orientation allowed for some kind of positive partnership, where the VF-700 blew air over the heatsink. If you are using a passive heatsink and can still maintain clearance with the VF-700 in that orientation, I see no reason why it should not help at least a bit. It sounds like your chipset is cooled by a fan though, so I doubt it will make much difference. You could always give it a try- let us know if you do.
