Just a quick question for you all. My pc was working fine last night then today i get home from work and turn it on... I get the box on my monitor saying video card not present or whatever. I take out my gfx card and reinstall it. I got the same results. I thought maybe my monitor was messed up so i hooked up my other monitor. It was giving me the message no connection until i plug it in then it goes straight to standby with no way of waking it up. I popped in my old ti 4200 card and it works fine. So obviously it has to be my fx5900XT.

My main question here is any idea what possibly could have happened? And have any of you had to deal with Chaintech before to return a card? Wondering if this will be difficult to either get a new card or get this one fixed. I bought it on 4/20/2004 from pcsupplysource.com. It says it comes with a 3 year warranty.

They were closed when i tried to call them will have to do that tomarrow. But im freaking out now. I was about to sell this one to a friend for $150 so i could buy a 6800 GT =(

Now it looks like im stuck with a pos ti4200 .......

Could be that it's junk. I would think that the retailer could handle the RMA, but I've never used those people before. Most likely you have nothing to worry about except if time is factor-usually you can get a new replacement card for free or with a small ~15% restocking fee. Depends on the retailer, or you could go straight to Chaintech. I did that with Epox (totally different company, but similar situation) and got a new motherboard cross-shipped.

Sounds like it did in fact died. Same thing happen to me when the RAM chips on my 9800pro got fried. Mostly because of excessive over clocking.
