I live in a dorm with 4-room suites. Each person has their own bedroom. So I'm sitting in my room for half an hour, and every so often I hear this noise that sounds like digital crickets chirping. I figure one of my roommates has a weird voicemail notification on their cellphone or something.

Then the guy in the room next to mine comes into the suite, and the noise happens again, so he walks into my room and asks me if that's my computer. I say no, I don't know what that noise is. So he says "Oh, I guess it's my computer then." and leaves.

I don't get it. If you knew your computer made a noise like that, wouldn't you check your own computer first?

Edit: The Idiom Police got me.

The irony is just screaming....:p

By the way, what does a digital cricket sound like (as opposed to a regular cricket)?

BTW part 2: I think it's "a few bricks short of a full load" iirc.

I'm going to bookmark this thread. I got to "few bricks short of" and then I couldn't remember the rest so I guessed. :p

However, not remembering an idiom < roommate's weirdness.

I like to use the following phrase: "I've run over smarter things than [insert name here] with my lawnmower."
