ok well lets start with specs:
sony prebuilt
P4 2.4 northwood
512 pc-2100 ram
sis 651 mobo
dvd-rom
cd -rw
floopy
120gig maxtor
some 250w psu 15a on the 12v

Heres the problem. 2 days ago i went to install my frineds 5200ultra. so doing so we put the card in, made sure everything was hooked up. went to boot it back up. comes up with a install boot drive and press enter thing. and it didnt not show there was a master drive or slave drive. ok great. took everything out. the HDD wasnt spinning.. tryed all kinds of different put conectors and nothing. so my frined has a 120gig maxtor laying aroudn that he let me have. Do you think my psu killed my HDD?

Now when every i put my comp into stand by. when i go to bring it back it jus reboots instead of coming right up. do you think this is from my pus as well?

thanks for anyinput.

BTW if the psu does need to be replaced. im going to buy a enermax 550w and a tsunami case sense i will be building a a64 system.

thanks again

I don't know..Possibly. However, my current system which consists of a 1.5GHz P4 Willamette, 1GB PC133 SDRAM, two Optical Drives, and a 40GB Western Digital HD, and get this - a 9800 Pro 128mb all run fine on a 200w PSU with 8 amps on the 12v. (I didn't know anything about PSU risks as the time of upgrading from my GF2 MX200  )

Get a larger PS, 250 = too small.

Those type of PS's work great in Dell systems where every component has been rated and chosen to work, take something or add something to them and you break that balance.

Adding a new PS will give you enough power to run the new ideo card.

It is possible that it is a PSU problem with the newer vid card. Also, does this only happen coming out of standby? If so, just dont use that feature.

How can you have a P4 williamette that runs on PC133 SDRAM? When those came out they were run purely on RAMBUS PC800 RDRAM.
