I think my PSU bit the dust

Was running 3Dmark2001 and in the middle of the Max Payne Bench my AXIA@1.2 just shut down. I knew it was most likely the PSU as it was only a 235watt. Well when I tried to turn it back on the mobo fan and PS fan would twitch like it wanted to come on but wouldnt. Is there any way I can fix it untill I can find a replacement?

I am on a friends PC.

I technically don't think you can fix such a thing unfortunately!

If it's dead, chances are it's dead and is going to stay that way...

Similar thing happened to me today
Was running my 1.33 at 1.5 for the first time on a Powerman 300W PS and the computer shut down. Luckily it turned back on though.
Once it turned on I ran over to the FS/FT Forum and bought a Enermax 430W PS 🙂

I hate to run a PSU more than 300watts. Would that be enough to run a AXIA@1.2.,1 HD,2 CD-Roms,Geforce 2 GTS,floppy and maybe a case fan or 2?

250W could do that...

I had the exact same setup running a couple weeks ago without any problems.
Once I got the 1.33 at 1.5 is when I started noticing some problems.
However, once I clocked it back down to 1.33 everything is fine.

System Specs:
T-bird 1.33 AYHJA
Epox 8K7A
512MB PC2100 DDR
Maxtor 20gig hdd
ATI Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO
SB Live! Value
Linksys NIC
Sigma Designs DVD Decoder Card
3 case fans
300Watt Powerman Power Supply

Again, she's all good until I run it at 1.5GHz

[edit]also a Golden Gate w/YS Tech 40cfm fan. That's probably 50 watts right there 😉[/edit]

I had the exact same problem with my AXIA 1.2 (non-overclocked) with a 300w powersupply.. CPU fan would start to spin for a sec, then all would powerdown.. CDRoms wouldn't begin to initialize. The powerled on the mobo itself indicated it was getting standby power tho'...

You could get the puter to turn itself back on with lots of on/off/on/off/on/off'ing with the main powerswitch on the PSU itself, but sooner or later it would shut itself down again.. Booting it in the morning was a true pain in the ass.. Swapped the powersupplies now, with another of the same type, and it hasn'e happened since...
