this morning i had to use my flash drive on my moms computer, its kinda old and the usb ports are in the back where i couldnt get to them so i shifted the computer some and the screen went black with dim colored lines at the bottom. at first i just thought a cable came loose so i checked all of them and it didnt do anything, then i shifted the computer some more and the desktop flashed and went back to the blank screen. i turned the monitor off and back on and nothing.i unpluged the monitor from the computer and turned the monitor on but didnt get the little message that says to check the cable. when i turn on the computer i dont get any abnormal beeps saying the video card is unseated or anything. i tried a different monitor and it worked fine. i know not to take the monitor apart because of the capacitor so is there anything i can do, the only thing i know is to take the case off the computer and check connections.

The best way to tell was to try another monitor on your pc, which you did and that monitor worked. I would say that the monitor you have is dead, and unless you really know what you are doing don't take the monitor apart, unless you want an early trip to heaven.

If you take the case off, you will see that all the connections are hard wired
and there is nothing for you to do.
