I was washing the dishes when i heard my bro scream for me.. i ran into the computer room to find smoke comming out of our 19 in monitor... its a little more than a year old too! I quickly unplugged the monitor and left it to cool off... i then tried it again and it works for 2 sec then quickly does this zap thing and turns off... please tell me my monitor is ok?

Smoke coming out of it? Sorry, I'd say it's toast. If it's only a year old, you should be covered by the warranty, so all is not lost.

I had a Viewsonic G790 before me G90flats that once got water in it and I figured it was over... Smoke, no pic, bad sounds ... turned that SOB upside down for about 2 hours, let er dry, its still working right now for a friend who bought it, that was like 2 years ago.... for what its worth ?

Definitely try BestBuy first. Proview is the company that made the EMC monitors. If Proview sold the monitor under the EMC name, then they should be able to service it for you. If they sold it to a company called EMC who rebranded it, Proview probably won't touch it. Either way, Best Buy should be able to point you to the correct place.
