I think my linksys is messed up

tweakmm

I think that my linksys smokes crack. It constantly resets itself, and every couple of minutes(whenever i do network activity) win2k will tell me that the network cable has been disconnected for a couple seconds.
I have the 4 port, router, WAP thing. BEFW1154
does anybody else have this prob?

make sure ur plug in the back is secure
chk your reset switch make sure it's not fubard

if that's koo then send it back

Another thing you might want to check is the network cable leading to the PC. I would replace it to see if that would fix the problem. When you get the disconnected notice, it doesn't even notice the cable is plugged in. Either the switch is bad or the cable you are using is crimped or something. I would suspect the cable first.

If Linksys is hard to get a hold of, go to Best Buy and purchase another one of the same kind you have. Put the broke one back in the box and take it back. Yea, I know, not nice, but I won't be stuck with fubared equipment because I can't get a hold of their support.

I also get some mad packet loss in Counter Strike. I dont get it when I am playing on my LAN. And whenever I try to change on of the settings of the router in its config webpage, It will freeze up MOST of the time and ill have to restart the router by unplugging it.

Uh, did you replace the cable leading from your PC to the router yet? The packet loss and the freezing up could be due to a dying cable on your system you are doing all this from. 🙂

Other than that, I would follow the solutions we suggested above.
