The computer has been crashing lately. randonly, I'll hear a high pitch spin-up from the hard drive and then the computer give me the BSOD.

Frustrated, i reformatted and now after being on the computer for 5 minutes, i hear a hard drive noise again and crash.

this time, the BIOs doesn't recognize the hard drive but it see my cd-rw.....

I guess it's dead?

Did you hear any clicks with this high pitched whine?

I hope you didn't have anything important on the drive.

Yes as a matter of fact it's a Maxtor. wtf.

Big surprise. I've had four Maxtors die on me in six months.

Try working at a company that was buying them in bulk before we found out they sucked so much ;)

I must have RMA'd 30 in my life.

1 Seagate, 1 WD... nothing else.

Hey, I'm trying to relax in OT here.
At least there has been no mention of Bose yet. :Q
::knocks on wood::

So Yoyo, I was thinking of getting one of those power cleaners from Monster Cable and that cool $800 power cable to go with it. The guy at BestBuy said it is awesome, what do you think?

My clock radio is really fuzzy, I'm hoping this will fix it.

Ouch. I have a 30gb western digital that's five years old that's been running nearly 24/7 since I got it... and it's still going. Wish I could say the same for the Maxtors.

I'm sitting here looking at a 60gb maxtor that was manufactured in 2000 and it still works. I have only had problems with maxtor drives that were manufactured within the last few years. All of their older ones still work. :confused:

Seagate makes the best drives ... although any drive can fail I've only had one Seagate go on me out of literally 100's I've installed. Next best would be Western Digital.
