I think my hard drive issues could be PSU related

My second hard drive rarely starts up with the computer, unless i kind of mess with it (soft resets, take out usb peripherals etc.)

I'm thinking about just buying a new better PSU, but was wondering what this entails. Do i have to buy an entire new case? or can I just get a PSU and swap them with a little wire splicing or what?

thanks

edit: I should add that this is a relatively new problem. I've been dealing with it for about 3 months (just kind of put up with it until now). while ive had the hard drive for about 1.5 years.

It depends on what case you have but, you should easily be able to remove the old PSU (4 screws in most instances) and install a new one. The main thing you need to do is make sure that you hook everything back up appropriately to the new PSU. A couple of digital pix or some labels may help if you are not confident you can remember everything.
