Ah, what a bummer. My hard drive is now making this really loud whinning noise. Is it toast? I have had this drive for 3 years without a problem (WD 60 gb) and I think it is about to die. Would it be possible to transfer ALL the files from the one drive to another and be able to run it without installing windows again? Anyway to fix the drive? Thanks

Update-
I duplicated the drive onto another drive using WD's software. Unfortunately, I could not boot into windows. Anyone else have success with this? Also, my HD seemed to stop making the noise it made (it is stil louder than my other WD hd though), so I think I will just keep it until it completely dies. I ran the WD diagnostic test, and it passed fine!

How can I get my clone to boot into windows?

Use Norton Ghost or some other imaging software and do a direct clone. This works for me

Actually I have an old Fujitsu 20gig 7200RPM drive in my old PC at work and it whines like crazy when you first start it, but after a few mins it goes away and runs just fine. The drive has been doing it for like a year, and still works, you probably have plenty of time to get it all backed up, (if it even fails at all)
