I think my GTX 1080's temperature target malfunctioned

Hi. I get the same issue on my 1080 Ti Fe. So in your card problem was card or not? Please answer.

Could be a fluctuation in ambient temperature or the case of a cold boot GPU versus warmed up GPU. My GTX 1080 (MSI Gaming X) will boost to 1974 out of the box after a cold boot but after running a while it will stabilize at 1898. Then again, I set my temperature target to 90 C and I rarely see the core hit 80 C.

My card. Just sometimes ignoring temp target. Its usually sits on 83-84C and thermal throttling. But sometimes when i run game temps go to 85C and there is no throttling thermal. Any ideas? Drivers,GPU,bios? I am on stock settings. Even no installed Precision,Afterburner,nothing. Only gpuz,fraps,cpuz,real temp.
