we were trying to add a vid card to his comp and the power cord(there is only the one for a second hard drive that is free) pulled on where it was hooked up to the HDD. it pulled ut about 1.4inch. do you think this could fry a HDD. it wouldnt spin up but you could hear stuff in the back. or do you think there just wanst aenough power for both the vid card and HDD. 250w psu. thanks

I'd try switching the cables around

trying to make sense of what you are saying here, if you pulled out hdd molex while computer was on......

yes, pulling out a 12v molex from a hdd could easily fry it by arcing from male pin to female shell - more likely if only slightly pulled than all the way

however, running your stated system overclocked on 250w psu is also bad practice, no matter what anyone else says

so you either have to try dif psu or put hdd in another pc
my guess you killed controller on hdd

Try putting the system back the way it was without the new video card... that should tell you if the hdd is messed up, but I don't see how it could be if the pc wasn't powered up when you pulled the plug out.

did that too... that HHD just wouldnt spin at all. i could feel nothing when is sparts. when we put the new HHD in i had it in my hand when i tested to make sure it booted. it almost feel out of my habd from the torque of sarting up. didnt get anything like that from the other one. guess my question is could the psu have of killed it?
