Asus A7n8x-e dlx
Athlon Mobile 2400+
Kingston HyperX 3200
Coolmax 470 PSU
Radeon 9700 Pro
WD Se 120 mb

Ok the power on problem has been solved. Thanks. Now what should I do w/ the dvi output that doesnm't seem to be working. I was gaming a few weeks back and I think the video card was yanked by the monitor cable 1/2 way out the port and the dvi hasn't been working since. Recommendations on course of action? Can I still RMA to ati if I don't have the white sticker on the card?

You plugged the molax cable into the vid card right? Make sure everything is mounted right, and look up the beep error codes for the motherboard.

The molex on the vid card has been triple checked. Everything is mounted to the best of my knowledge. There is a single beep that is normal for boot up. Thanks.

I plugged in headphones.
"CPU Fan Failed" -- Panaflo has no rpm sensor so this is normal I think.
"NO Floppy Detected"
"No IDE HD detected"
The above are normal becuz I didn't plug it it. Those are not necessary for bootup/bios.

where are you getting the above stuff from? the headphones?? or on screen? maybe you cant run the system without an RPM capable fan

is that hyperx a 512 meg stick? (double sided) or a single sided stick (256 megs)?

also... what bios are you trying to use? most recent? or bios that shipped with board?

If possible, try these things to help sort out what's working and what's not:

  • Try the video card in another board to confirm that it's working
  • Make sure the video card is truly reamed to the bottom of the slot... those brand-new AGP slots can be stiff sometimes :Q
  • If the hard drive is on an IDE cable by itself, set up its jumper as "Single Drive" (sounds like you also tested without it, though)
  • Try powering another known-working computer with the new power supply
  • Check the new power supply to confirm it's set to the right voltage for your area (115V since you're in New York)
  • Try powering this computer with another known-working power supply that's suitable for the load
  • If you have any slow-turning fans with RPM-signal capability plugged into the motherboard, like perhaps an RPM-monitoring wire from your PSU's fans, unplug it from the motherboard. My A7N8X Deluxe won't POST if I have a low-RPM Enermax thermally-regulated 80mm fan plugged into it, because the fan DOES send an RPM signal and the mobo gets  by how slow it is. Weird but true.
  • If all else fails, peel the mobo out of the case, lay it on cardboard, and benchtest it with just the essentials
I use a Panaflo L1A on my old A7N8X Deluxe and it will run without it, so I think the -E will too. Low RPMs will boggle it, but a complete lack of them won't. Good luck! :)

hmm, use it as an excuse to upgrade? ;) RMA won't be possible without the little white sticker onthe back. if you hate analog that much, get a new card.

if you can fix the output yourself... i'll send u a few of mine cards and maybe u can fix them for me. as for the sticker, well that's the serial of the card, i think they'll notice that the serial of the card doesn't match the sticker if you "borrow" one.

Well. I sorta jerry rigged it and its working now. However, there is a 3 year warranty right? The card hasn't been out for 3 years? So my logic is all 9700 pros are under warranty?
