Is it possible for a CRT monitor to eventually just die out of the blue?
I've had about 15 CRT monitors and i've never seen one die like this..
But my primary CRT (Samsung 950P) just died on me I think after using it heavily for several years since Sept 2001.

I left the monitor on, went out for a few hours, came back and the monitor wouldn't turn on anymore. The power button was still flashing orange (a constant green means its on). So there is some power going to it, but when I tried hooking it up to my pc or my laptop video out it wouldn't display any picture.

Thanks

I had a Princeton Graphics monitor literaly shoot sparks and catch on fire once for no apparent reason!?!

So yeah, consider yourself lucky it didn't smoke-out your room like my Princeton Graphics monitor did!

My old 17" princeton had a hot lamp shine on it, the bulb never was the same. One day the monitor got real real dim. I left to the bathroom and heard a pop. I knew it was the monitor, lots of smoke hovered over it and wouldn't turn on. Threw that in the garbage.

A good reason to get a new one!

No, really, I have no idea. Personally, I'd take it to bits, but I doubt many people are stupid enough to try it after it's just been in use. Much unlike myself!

After years of heavy use, I imagine it's just met its end, gone to silicon heaven or what have you.
