Clear the BIOS, remove all hardware thats not needed for it to boot and try again.

it's stuck on the screen that's suppose to check all hardware and stuff. It's got this crazy text all over the place and a bunch of text scrolling 🙁

before all this mess, i popped in the winxp cd and boot of the disk. deleted the partition. then made it install winxp. all of a sudden i got a stop error 🙁 then i restart and get all this mumbo jumbo. i'm screwed 🙁

yea it sorta looks like that crazy stuff

clear the BIOS using the jumper on the motherboard. sounds like it might be screwed up. if that doesn't work, try reflashing the BIOS or get a new one (if replaceable).

ok i got it to boot up but i got these errors:

ERROR
0251: System CMOS checksum bad-Default configuration used
ERROR
0290: PRevious boot incomplete-Default configuration used

try windows xp repair.
something went wrong and your installation got screwed. but repair will do it.
afterwards, check your power supply and RAM, those might have been the ones who caused the problem in the beginning.

well i booted off the winxp cd but it hangs on the setup screen.

I would have to agree that you should check your ram. One time i tried to reinstall winxp into my computer and it kept on hanging in one particular spot during set up. I swapped out the ram and it works fine.

Did you remove all your non-essential PCI cards and USB periphs? I had a similar problem that turned out to be my scsi card.

Otherwise, as mentioned, you might wanna check your RAM.

I've experienced the same symptoms with bad RAM so I agree with the posters who are telling you to check your RAM. The easiest way if you don't have any to swap out is to use Memtest. It's not dependent on an OS and you can run it from boot.

Good luck. 😉
