the fireburner picture doesnt work..for me at least


looks to me like you have a coaster maker, but with what i see i cant really prove that to be true, it just looks that way

Try a cd-rw and just try to copy a few various files from your hard drive using EZ CD creator if you have it.
If the most basic copying doesn't work, then your cd writer is dead.

Try cleaning it, that might work, but I doubt it. If all else fails, at least it will still read cds and can use it as a cdrom. Is it still under warranty? How old is it?

its an old one, I needed an excuse to get a new burner anyway.

I think those are the drives that get "dry rails" if you are going to open it up, look at the rails that the lens slides on, there will be a small amount of extra lube at the end of the rail, you can try to re-lube and see if that fixes it.

Whoa for $150 you can get alot(burner wise)nowdays. I would go with a Yamaha,Plextor or TDK which IMO are the top brands. Look on pricewatch all 3 brands @ 24x/10x/40x can be had for $150 and under. I think Plextor is the best then TDK and Yamaha last.

I just got a Lite-On 32x12x40....Very nice drive..Quiet and Fast!

Got it from Newegg.com for $120 including shipping..Can't beat the price

did u check at least if you have correct ASPI installed? theres is aspichecker from nero website that u can dnld. I have it happend to me one time after I installed couple programs and aspi was messed up.
