I think McCain has found his issue to win on.

I have been argueing with a guy at work the last week whether or not Obamas tax increase on small business would be based on gross sales/receipts or profit after deductions/expenses.

His father owns a small business and does not have a profit over 250k. He will not get it through his head that you deduct costs and then you are taxed on the profit.

The average person is scared of the whole taxing process because they dont understand it.

Imo Kerry would be President today if he would not have hammered time and time again that he was going to tax the top income earners.

Bush capitalized on that issue to win the election.

I am worried that we are in the same place today.

Sadly, he will never see this post since it's not in P&N, and we will never know if your incredible insight would have won him the election. :(

Business gets taxed on profit. Anyone who could think you get taxed on gross sales is an idiot.

McCain should start calling himself, "Barrack Hussein Obama". He'll pick up a few more votes that way. If he survives the Attacks from his audince members. A risk worth taking at this point.

That's a game winning strategy right there. "Wait, do I vote for Barack Hussein Obama (R) or Barack Hussein Obama (D)? Oh, the hell with it, I'm writing in Batman again." As we all know, a vote for Batman is a vote for a billionaire weapons researcher, so they get tallied with the Republicans, BOOM! McCain wins.

The average American just doesn't seem to understand basic principals of economics, accounting, and finance. How do you expect them to understand our complex tax code?
