I really don't like the new Camaro, mostly because GM had SUCH a great starting design for its retro muscle car, the 1967-69 Camaro, which is one of the best-looking American cars of all time, yet they managed to make something rather awkward-looking. IMO the Mustang and Challenger are much more successful as modern adaptations of retro designs.

Most of those who purchased a 5th gen in 2009-early 2011 were people that were really interested in the car, and many of those are garage queens. In the last year it has become a much more common car and the average idiot is starting to buy them.

You have to take the price point of these cars into consideration. You can pick up a new mustang or camaro without shelling out tons of money. These ridiculous paint jobs are probably done on base versions by people who buy them because the look retro or they want to be noticed. An enthusiast would never dream of putting such an insane paint job on a respectable car.
