I probably still have some Turtles trading cards in a cardboard box somewhere. I'd still watch the first movie again. I love when they find the old pizza...truly classic.
Vanilla Ice was actually pretty good, especially for his time. He just got a big head and tried too hard. He probably would have gotten away with it if he had been black. I still remember the first time I heard Ice Ice Baby. That was actually a tremendous and groundbreaking song at the time, and I still like it. I wonder how much of his choreography / costuming / etc he did.
Speaking of old times, I've been watching a number of VHS movies lately. Far more nostalgic than I expected. I prefer the overall experience to what you get with DVDs. I don't really want to know how they make movies anyway...ruins it for me. Root menus are annoying at best, and the last thing I want to do is watch a movie I love while some guy talks about how he faked something that moved me.
No, I actually prefer tapes now. They're big and chunky and real. You don't have to be so mouse-gloves careful when you handle them. The previews I used to fast-forward through are interesting now. The eerie silence when the movie ends, late at night in a dark room...I love the finality. Dramatic, somehow. The period at the end of the sentence. I don't have to get up right away to stop the same ten seconds of music from playing over and over. I can just sit there in the dark and exist.
