I think it's dead

So I just installed a new heatsink/fan for my CPU and I put it all in and I think I've done great for my first time ever doing it, go to power up, and the monitor says "Please check signal cable" or some bs like that. Tried another monitor, same thing, no signal.

I have to go pick up my dad from work now, so hopefully between now and then some magical elves come and fix everything. If not, I guess I'll have to take off the new heatsink/fan and see if maybe I just put the CPU in wrong or something mundane like that, but I'm 100% positive I didn't.

This sucks. 🙁

Did I miss something? 😕

Anyway, time to go pick up my dad. I used a paper towel when it said non-lint cloth, I'm wondering if maybe that was my mistake? Anyone wanna help me out on this one?

If you want help you should describe the steps you took down to fine detail. Also define what happens when you power up the computer.

Well I've got a thread in GH about what happened.

My rig powers up fine, all the fans etc go but it says check your signal cable or whatever.

The only thing I did was take out the CPU with the old heatsink/fan, use some ArctiClean stuff and cleaned it, then put thermal paste on the new heatsink and attached the CPU and put it back in its slot how it was before. The CPU heatsink/fan is plugged in and works but I'm getting that error message. I already tried removing my 9800 Pro and then putting it back in, no go. 🙁
