I'm in a small yahoo admin group and this is from my email on this issue. I don't know much about password drives
USER
I have a friend who's (former girlfriend) has set a hard drive
password and while i have tried to boot to winternals and to a xp
recovery/boot disc then tried to go to the bios to reset the password.
All has been unsuccessful, If someone knows a tool or a procedure to
try please post it to the site I'm sure all of us will run into this
one day.

If this is an IBM hard drive it isn't going to be possible to get the password removed so long as it really is a HDD password and not a BIOS or login password. We used this at Intel just for this reason, and once the drive password is set, it is a paperweight if you don't know it...even taking the drive out of the machine won't work...
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news....

I can't seem to find any info to say that the hard drive has that
capaubilty.
I would think it has some type of efs utitlity like (Encryption Plus
Hard Disk ver ?.?) it has a yellow and black login screen. Does this
sound close or does it have a WD password screen.

I think it is a X-Box Drive.
This link says it does not support locking but I still think you have
one that does. there is a tool for unlocking them but I can't remember
what it's called.
