Damn i'm 23 years old and i'm gonna buy a Baume et Mercier watch for my girl tonight. I think it goes to show how much i'm into material things. The retail should be around $1200...or should i get her a Chanel ring that is white gold .10 carat diamond for $950? Sorry no pics of the ring...but i got a watch pic below

The ring is a good idea but it could also warrant marriage and such. Depends on how serious you guys are. If you intend to marry her in the next few years I'd go with the ring:D, but if not I'd get the watch. She'll be VERY happy either way.

And looks like you'll be getting some *over* time for that :D..lol..(not to be taken offensively)

I personally would perfer a ring if my boyfriend proposed the offer of either of those two things.. The watch is nice and all , but to me, it doesnt look to feminine. Not something I would wear. I like watches with sleek bands and a simple designs.

advice: don't spend it. for $1200 you can get her something she'd like much more.

Say, flowers every week for a year.

I spent $33.00 at Chili's for V-Day. Start small so you can work your way up. I hope you've been goin out a LOOOONG time.

Unless it's an engagement ring, you're being dumb.

I sure wouldn't get a woman a diamond ring unless I was intending to propose marriage. And a watch doesn't seem as romantic to me as, for instance, a pendant necklace. Ah, a beautiful, elegant gemstone pendant on a long golden chain that dangles down near her cleavage-point. (Brings back memories!)

yea i think your either really loaded or just making a dumb decision. I know that the $10 CD I got my girlfriend for V-day (along with flowers) was more important to her than the 50 bucks I spent for her birthday cause the CD was a personal thing between me and her that meant a lot to us.

Classy watch, my sister bought one similar. I think it has an enduring design.

I'd opt for the Athlon XP, load up on the RAM and go all SCSI.

j/k, actually I have no clue.

They send a different message, so you should decide which message you want to send. A ring does bespeak commitment, though not necessarily marriage. You sound committed already, if you're spending around $1,000 for a gift. Why were you intending to get her the watch? Was it something she asked for? If so, go for that. If not, the ring is closer to being a failsafe gift - plus cost is lower.

well i got the watch....with a tan lizard skin band. I got plug at the store so i paid $625 with tax. Yeah i think the ring with a diamond shows more commitment...april will be our 1st year anniversy....i felt like getting her something nice cuz she put almost a $1000 into my car.

no offense but I think you're right when you said you're into material things. Less than 1 year and you're spending that much money on each other?

what kind of job do you have so that you can drop $625 on a watch for your girlfriend on your 1st year anniversary?

In my personal opinion, that is way too big of a gift for a Valentines Day gift... Especially since you haven't been together all that long. You had better be careful, she might have only gotten you a card, and while you might not mind, it might make her feel really bad!
