Eat 1-2 cups of yogurt every day. It'll eventually get better.

I didn't discover I was lactose intolerant until later in life. Made things very embarassing while growing up.

I think I am as well. I no longer eat cereal in the morning because of this. It's not a big deal however as I can still eat cheese, yogurt and other dairy products. I hate milk by itself anyway.

Did you drink there Whole or the 2% reduce fat free milk? I am asking because I recently discovered that I get the runs when I drink the 2% reduce milk. I went back to drinking the Whole milk and have no problems.

Same here so I usually drink lactose free milk. However, I can still eat every other dairy product. Also, the funny thing is that I just back into drinking regular milk (organic) in the past couple of days and I have been fine. I wonder if it being organic has anything to do with it. Meh...

Happened to me too when I turned 16 or 17. I can drink a tad but if I go over some mysterious limit then gas and D start occurring.

didn't find out I was lactose intolerant until college. it made me a very sad person

the intolerance seems to be inconsistent though. sometimes I'll consume lactose products with no noticeable effects and other times I really regret it

lactaid milk and lactaid pills (taken just before you eat something with dairy) are your friends.

different dairy foods contain different amounts of lactose so you will have different reactions. iirc, even whole milk has less lactose in it than 2% or 1% or skim.

Yup, for me too. I can eat yogurt 3-4 days before issues, sour cream 1 or 2 days but I don't take my chances with it and use a generic Lactaid, some Ice Cream I can eat daily others 1 or 2 days, cheese I can eat daily, cottage cheese I don't take chances with and use a generic Lactaid.

Ice cream KILLS me. 1 tablespoon I am OK. Any more than that and I have issues. Even the lactaid pills don't work. I can eat small amounts of all other dairy products though.
But we only keep Lactaid milk in the house.

That sucks.

A year back a friend bought me a Strawberry Shortcake with a Whipping Cream frosting for my Birthday. I thought it would be an utter disaster, but to my surprise and delight I ate a giant piece of that cake for 5 days in a row without a hint of problems. It seems to be rather hit or miss, the Ice Cream I can eat and the Ice Cream I can't eat can be made by the same company only difference being the Flavour.

Milkshakes are something I haven't had in 15+ years that I used to love with a decent Burger. Losing ones Dietary choices sucks, but as long as I have chocolate, I shall survive. :sneaky:

There are more lactose intolerant people in the world than not.
I grew up in the midwest though and, I'm pretty sure being lactose intolerant is against the law there, not to mention, a crime against God.

Hmm, perhaps the Lactose Tolerant should be the one with the Label then?
