I'm thinking about taking ten days off and flying out west. I'll stay with a friend in Mesa..I also have a friend in Vegas, so I may go out there for a couple of days. I'd like to go up to the Grand Canyon as well.

Other than renting a nice camera lens, what else should I do & where should I go?

Kind of hot to hike unless you go really early in the morning.

Plenty of awesome places to eat in phx/surrounding areas though : ).

How about San Diego, San Francisco, and LA?

Thought about it, but I'm not sure I'll have time. I want to ride with Tempe and Vegas PD's while I'm out there (planning on relocating eventually)..we'll see how it goes, maybe I'll visit Cali, but I'm concentrating more on places I might move.

Phoenix is a bit...uncomfortable in the summer months...in fact, it gets fucking HOT.

IMO, there is some nice country down there...when it's cool enough to enjoy it.

I'm pretty sure I can take the heat.., but if not I'd rather find out before I move there. 😛

You're a tourist? Going to LV? See the strip, see some shows. There are dozens of national parks in AZ and southern UT. If you're hearty, they're still good to visit. See hoover. Visit CA....endless stuff.

Go to Sedona.

Go get faced in Scottsdale and stare at the "scenery".

Go to Alice Coopers Resteraunt "Cooperstown" behind the US Airways Arena downtown. Their burgers are heaven.

Drive up (or hike if it's not too hot) South Mountain. Road was under construction last year so not sure if it's open or not now.

If you really like the desert vegatation go to the Botanical Gardens by the zoo.

Drive up the Apache Trail.

Go tubing on the Salt River. http://www.saltrivertubing.com/

10 days really isn't that much if you want to see Phoenix, Sedona, Vegas, and the GC. I added Sedona just because you should go there. 😛

Mainly looking at the Phoenix area because I'm thinking about moving out that way (Tempe/Mesa), but I figure I might as well check out some other stuff too. There aren't many places hiring now, but I need a vacation so I might as well check it out anyway.
