15" superdrive is so tight...old roommate has one

go for the 15", 12" is very small for your screen, and imo, not worth the extra "portability" factor

I'll buy you  if you spring for the 15" PB. :) I personally think the 15" SD model is overpriced though. ;(

I want one too...:(

But instead, I have a home theater to finish (almost done!) and car to buy. You can drive over here in your Cobra and enjoy a movie whilst chatting wirelessly on your PB. :D

I'd love to have the 12" Powerbook w/ superdrive. Actually I would wait until the G5 powerbooks come out.

I just got the 12" last week. I would say get the 12". No local apple store?
Oh, 12" combo. Don't think the superdrive is worth it.

I'd go for the 15"s over the 12".

I'm saving for a nice lappy, its crap though that Apple won't detail about their products as it would be nice to know alittle what their next PB entails and whether its even worth to wait.

You might wanna read up on the macnn.com, apple support forums too. There's different "quirks" associated with the 15" and the 12". On the 15" - latch problem, white spots (though I think they resolved this eventually), and some other smaller issues. On the 12" - Wobbling, case warping and a bit of a heat issue. Personally, I had wobbling the first day but it went away, but the case warp is there, but very very little. Hoping it won't grow.

But I'm loving my 12", it's a great backup to my PC.

Oh yea, the powerbooks are due for a speed bump/update soon, like before the end of April soon.

What ever you get, its more of an investment. (pb's like mine are going for around $750 on ebay, pretty damn good for a 2.5 year old).. Just got a new battery inthe mail today and the fresh charge says 4 hours left....sweet.

One thing i realized is the 15 inch takes a beating in book bags, even with a sleeve. I like the 12" for the small size and greater portability. You can see just fine on the 12" since expose takes away the need for a lot of desktop space.

Anyways, the backlit keys on my moms brand new 15" is sweet.

Get the 15" combo, unless you want the DVD writer.

The 12" is kinda lame. I have an 12" G4 iBook and don't understand why I would want to pay that much more for 256kB more cache and the ability to add alittle more ram.

Something to consider...apple should have a g5 powerbook by q4 this year...(most likely december)...

I plan on getting one also but have decided to patiently wait for the g5...got enough crap to keep me busy at the moment as it is anyways
