I'm seeing on ATT website that they have a new 29.99 GSM plan, so I guess I'll do the switch from TDMA So for people who have GSM in SoCal area...what phone do you guys recommend?? I like the T68i but its too expensive and the deals I see from time to time to get it without activation seem to be very YMMV. I am thinking of the Siemens S46 since is free right now...or maybe the Nokia 8590. What do you guys think?

I don't think I will do much travelling Europe, so I am not so concerned about that.

I would like the T68x but I don't want to spend 150 bucks AR for a phone.

I got my T68i for free from Good Guys. They have a deal goin on. The fone costs 150 bucks, out of which u get a rebate for 100 bucks from Good Guys and 50 bucks from AT&T. I got the car charger, leather case and car holder for free ;)

go get yours before the deal is over. The reception is ok, but not as powerful as TDMA is. And... the fone is cool. You get the feeling of migrating to windows from Unix!!

Also, I get to keep my old number i had for TDMA ;)

All of this just for 30$ which i paid for a 2 yrs insurance for the fone.

From experience I can tell the T68i has a great interface you wont be disapointed if u decide to splurge and go for it.

I bought my wife the Seimans, i am not sure if its the same model number u are referring too. Anyways we are sent it back, tha is we are sending it back, if they ever send me the damn return labe. Anyways thats another story altogether. I didnt like the interface and the features of the Seimans.

if your an existing customer i suggest you haggle with them i was able to get 50 knocked off the each of the phones in addition to the rebates.

I use the phone in LA and Irvine and havent had a problem with it except on a small part of the 405 where i lose the signal.

My buddy got one to after he saw mine and he is a sales rep and travels extensively in southern cali and hasnt had a complaint either.
Good luck on yoru decision.

sorry for thread hijacking, but what is the advantage of GSM if you get better reception with TDMA?
