I knew I had a problem staying away from my computers, but it hasnt hit me until one of my floormates came in and said I need rehab. I am on my computers 24/7, and its killing me, and my school work. I have a mini network in my dorm room doing various things, I am addicted, seriously. What do you guys suggest I do to stay away??? Are there rehad places I can attend?

--Thanks

why don't you try turning off your computers for a day. Take away the power cords or something. I did something similar and whenever I get off my computer, I turn it off, so I really think about using it(since I have to turn it on) so I don't waste time on it.

What are you doing on your computer 24/7? Maybe you are addicted to what u do, instead of computers...

I guess, I'm on alot because I have to do alot of programming assignments, but than that gets me stressed out, so I start surfing the web for other stuff to do. I download alot of stuff, to keep my mind off my stress. It feels like I would be depressed if I did not use the computer at least half of my time each day. All in all, I guess its another excuse to refrain from doing my studying.

hmm, i can offer some tips, at best. first, unplug your ethernet cable. without AT and internet in general, your computer can be a lot more boring to use. second, uninstall games that you may have installed. and finally, tv. haha, tv is the solution to anything that a computer can't solve. so if being near the computer is a problem, then start watching your tv. but seriously, just find somethign else to do with your free time, even if it is just playing like PS2 or watching tv, atleast it will get you away from the computer.

just do what i did:

i imagine very harmful electromagnetic rays hitting my skull and brain whenever i turn my computer on. now, when i turn it on, i get a sick feeling in my stomach.

even better, attach some electrodes to the vowels on your keyboard.

really though, you should try to find some kind of hobby, or just go out, even if it's to the library or something.

The advice about pulling your ethernet cable for a day is good.
In your situation, there's no such thing as: "I'm only going to just check my email....". <-- doesn't work.
