I think i will be staying at the Shoreham hotel...has anybody stayed there? Im in my late 20's bringing a date. Any good spots to party?

Live music, no booze. I find Times Square overrated. Since you're staying in the city, might as well go to a party near Times Square tho', then just walk back to the hotel afterwards. If you were staying outside Manhattan, then I'd suggest considering staying away, cuz hailing a cab would be a nightmare.

and when isnt it packed? you should ride 1,2,3,4,5,6 trains during rush hour from downtown manhattan. The subway is way cheaper than a cab. And carrying your wallet in your backpocket is never a good idea in the city unless you want to be pickpocketed. (geez even high school kids know better than to do that)

Dude walk. In the city you get to places faster by walking than driving especially at times like new years etc. If you are planning to getting out of the city later then be prepared to get things squished
