I called a female telemarker a wise and beautiful woman and hung up after she called me 5x in one day

She called back crying. I said it to her again and hung up No more calls.
I don't really get that, she was trying to sell you stuff again while crying or just complaining about you being mean?

They were selling "long distance service", like for a land line? Did you get a free buggy whip if you signed up?

I sometimes like to mess with telemarketters but have to remember they're just normal people trying to make a living too. I would hate that job, but if it's the only thing available then I'd take it at least until I can find something better.

Come to think of it, I have not had many calls on my landline in a while... the DNCL might actually be working! I never get any on my cell either.

I wish I would get the "microsoft tech support" ones more often though, those are fun.

No, they are not just "normal people", they are breaking the law, and they know it.

I don't think it's illegal, perhaps it should be, but it's not. Same with the fact that companies sell your information (that's often how you end up on these lists in first place - though some just dial random numbers like 123-0001, 0002 etc) it's not illegal, but it really should be.

If my number is on the "do not call" list, and there is no prior business relationship with me (in the last 18 months), then it is illegal. Companies that 'war dial' are required to check any number called against the do not call list.
They can be taken to court and fined.

There's tons of exceptions though, such as overseas is exempt (most of these are from overseas), political parties, religious organizations, donations etc and companies you do business with.

IMO it's stupid though, if you're on the list, I agree, they should simply be blocked period, zero exceptions. And it should be an actual block, not something that they have to honor.

Haha, whats wrong with lawyers?
A man and a woman died and went to heaven. After a few years in heaven they fell in love and wanted to get married. So they asked St. Peter to get a priest to marry them. A few years passed and finally St. Peter found the couple and told them that he had finally found a priest to marry them. Several months passed after they were married and they fell out of love and wanted to get divorced. So they asked St. Peter to get them a lawyer.......St. Peter looked at the couple and said look you two -- it took me several years to find a priest up here. Do you have any idea how long it will take me to find a lawyer up here? lolol
