I think I just came across the guy who tried to abduct me when I was a young child in Morristown, TN

I'm not comfortable with "dead thread" ..... I for one consider U&T my friend and I'm not giving up hope.

I just want him to be okay. :) So keep this thread alive in case he comes lurking .... be great to see you online buddy!

🤓
Since they were a mod maybe one of them could enlighten us.

A: psychologist
B: say hi to the sheriff, additional charges may be possible
C: go to the parole hearing and show you still care and you feel he should be locked up.

Yeah, dead thread and I think he deleted his account.

Yes
Please do. A lot of these creeps get away with it for a long time because not enough people speak out. Getting in contact with others with similar (but unique) experiences can be good for oneself and the others too.
Ditto (for yourself and for his other victims, let him know you now know who he is and will make sure he's remembered for being a despicable monster).

Ah, well hopefully things are ok for him.

Time fades memories ..... unfortunately nothing makes the painful ones go completely away. :(
That's one of the really harsh facts of life. Harsh enough that wiping these memories away may become big business, once the technology to do so becomes available. I'm fortunate in so many ways with many, many wonderful memories but when I have nothing to do and my mind is wandering aimlessly, the bad memories are the ones that come up to the surface and make me wish they hadn't happened.

I used to think that.

But it just isn't true.

They just sit there, and the right thing will activate them. And when that happens, a mental health professional is required.

The above-bolded was almost exactly my entire point.... so what exactly "isn't true" in what I posted ??? o_O

It's certainly one advantage "machine" life or AI might have .... the ability to just "delete" bad memories.

But my bad memories are what make me who I am today! Bad memories are part of who we are just as much as the good memories.

In some people more then others.

. . .

Our bad memories are part of who we are just as much as our good ones. We cannot just delete them without leaving even a bigger bleeding mess where they once were. This is something that has shaped our lives, a foundational brick, it might not be a healthy brick, but yanking it out of the wall is not going to be good for the wall either.

. . .

as for me, the 80% of the foundation of my life is bad memories, I yanked all those brinks the wall would come crashing down.

EMDR is already proving helpful for some people in processing unresolved trauma.
